Happy New Year everyone!
I’m making the most of my new year by writing a few resolutions to try and keep me steady throughout the next 12 months. I’m not a firm believer in setting resolutions but by writing them out and making them reasonably achievable, then I’m hoping the start of this new decade will be quite easy going.
Be Kind
Being kind isn’t just a mentality that I want to share towards others, but also something that I’d like to push inwards and towards myself, my body, my personal life and my professional career.
I put myself down a lot and this is hopefully a way to for me to remember to stop blaming myself for things that are completely out of my control.
If things aren’t going to plan then I need to be kinder to myself and remember that life doesn’t always go to plan and that everything that’s supposed to happen, will happen in time.
Being kind to our planet is another way that I’ll be interpreting this resolution. I find myself becoming lazy when it comes to simple things like recycling properly or not using my reusable coffee cup and water bottle. I need to be more proactive and if we all do as much as we can, even the little things, then a change will surely follow.
Work hard
For the last few months I’ve wanted to spend an evening or two a week looking after my body, whether that’s to go for a run, to go to a gym class, or take the dogs for a walk. This year, I’m aiming to get physically and mentally healthy and will be looking to improve my fitness but also what I’m consuming and putting into my body.
This is my attempt at a solution for my procrastination and to start working hard for the career opportunities that are only a leap away. I’ve been struggling to put my mind into certain things and I feel like if I can master this concentration then the effort I’m putting in will improve my work by the end of this coming year.
I’ll also be looking to educate myself on how my diet effects me and my environment and making healthy decisions based on that too.
Breathe
Looking back on 2019, I’ve realised that I’d let life get too heavy more times than I’d have liked. I was getting stressed and upset over things that didn’t matter a week later. So this resolution is about me taking 5 – 10 minutes (or however long I need) whenever I need it to remind myself about what’s actually important in that moment.
I’m also keen to find ways to destress and release any bad energy for times when I catch myself with a negative mindset to be able to stay present and open that little bit more.
That’s it for my resolutions this year. Let me know in the comments if you’ve set anything for yourselves.
As always, thanks for reading
